Here is a curious story from Tibet. A few weeks ago, we received a letter from India. It had been written by Murdo MacDonald-Bayne in Tibet and handed to a passing caravan to post. "I have had some of the most wonderful experiences and proof of Survival," he wrote, and promised to send further details later on. Last week the promise matured. This is what he sent:
I was met at Kalimpong by a master from Lhasa, who had come to meet me. He gave me instructions and I went on my way after, of course, getting various permits to enable me to pass the guards, as one cannot even enter Sikkim without a pass, far less Tibet.
I had to travel 130 miles to a certain place beyond Phari, about 17,000 feet above sea level. It took me ten days hard going to get there. When I arrived I found my friend waiting for me. He must have travelled by some extraordinary means, because he had been there for ten days, awaiting my arrival.
There I met another master who lives most of his time in the astral and spiritual planes. When I spoke, he said, "How well I know that voice." Then he added, "You are the mouthpiece of a great spiritual force, both of those who have passed into the higher spiritual planes as well as many who have a physical body."
After many instructions on my work of healing, which has greatly improved since I have returned, I was keen to discuss spiritual questions, especially those in connection with the "dead."
The master anticipated my thoughts for he said, "When the moon rises tonight we will have here a host of people whom the world calls dead. Just as the resurrected body was visible to the disciples of Christ, so shall the resurrected body be visible to the forthcoming civilisation. And the so-called dead, who are living, will mingle with the so-called living, who are dead.
"Why are they dead?" he asked me. "They are dead to the truth that life exists eternally, that consciousness exists for ever. That is why they are dead -- dead to themselves. But it is a false concept and has no foundation in Truth.
"Most people are blind today, blinded by the false concepts they hold in their own minds which prevent the light of truth from manifesting in their lives."
He went on to discuss some of the wonders of life, the spirit world and the forces at work in the world today.
"Surely you know you are a spirit now," he said. "You do not require to pass through the stage of what you call death to become one."
By this time, darkness had fallen and the moon rose. As it did so, I could see coming towards me a number of forms. They were singing and there was music such as no earthly instruments could create.
I thought I was in a trance. I felt my body, looked at my watch, and spoke to the masters. I was perfectly conscious. It was not a trance, neither was it a dream nor hallucination.
The master said, "You know many of these because they were well known to you while on earth. Others perhaps you will not know personally, but you are well known to them. They are part of a spiritual band who work with you."
And that moment my "dead" mother came forward and spoke to me in Gaelic. She seemed quite solid. Others I knew spoke to me. Some of them I had not met before.
We sang, we spoke. This was not a seance, but, by the power of materialisation of the atoms, the resurrection body took on, for the time being, the condensed atoms of the atmosphere.
The master said, "It is the body of all bodies. The interpenetrating planes of mind is the mind of all minds and the spirit is the spirit of all spirits.
"The individual is the personification of that which personifies and therefore becomes to be personally the expression of that which is impersonal. They are the personification of the great I Am, God Almighty, one in all, all in one."
It was early morning before I left this place. I sat on the side of the great mountain, with the snow glistening in the foreground. I was filled with a silence that brought peace and new joy.
